°µÍø½âÃÜ Celebrates Career and Technical Education Month
February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and °µÍø½âÃÜ along with community colleges all over will be celebrating and recognizing their CTE programs that successfully prepare students as they enter the workforce.  CTE programs often differentiate themselves from others by providing a more hands-on opportunity for students as they learn and gain experience before joining their respective industries.

°µÍø½âÃÜ Hosting Children's Art Show
°µÍø½âÃÜ will host a gallery featuring nearly 100 pieces of artwork from area children. The Children’s Art Show features 86 pieces of art from students from Hutsonville Junior High, New Hebron Christian School, Nuttall Middle School, Oblong Elementary School and Junior High, and Palestine Grade School.   The Art Show will be open to the public from February 5-16 in the °µÍø½âÃÜ Learning Commons, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:30-4:00 on Fridays.

°µÍø½âÃÜ Fall 2023 Honors
°µÍø½âÃÜ has released its academic honor lists for the Fall 2023 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chancellor’s Honors List, the President’s Academic Honors List, and the Dean’s Academic Honors List.   To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

LTC FBLA Participates in Career Connections Conference
°µÍø½âÃÜ Future Business Leaders of America-Collegiate members traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to participate in the FBLA’s Career Connections Conference. The event is focused on connecting talented individuals with leading employers and helping them learn what it takes to succeed in the job market. The conference includes information on interviewing techniques, building a personal brand, and how to navigate an early career.

°µÍø½âÃÜ is offering a new Community Education class, Sociology of Cults, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore the intricate dynamics of cults, their leadership structures, and effective strategies for countering the narratives that may ensnare individuals.

°µÍø½âÃÜ Offers Basic Sign Language Class
A popular community education class is returning to °µÍø½âÃÜ in February. Basic Sign Language will be offered on Thursdays February 8-29 from 6-8 p.m. Led by Tony Austin, the class covers the basics of American Sign Language. Students will learn the essentials like the alphabet and counting to days of the week, basic greetings, and everyday phrases. Students will get the chance to gain confidence in communicating with sign language through hands-on practice.

If you’ve ever wondered which fork you should be using, you might want to take °µÍø½âÃÜ’s Dinner Etiquette Community Education class. The course is designed to help equip people with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate formal dining situations with ease and grace.

The Arts at °µÍø½âÃÜ is offering a masterclass for active participants in the theater from high school age and up. Ace the Monologue in Six Easy Steps participants will work with actor, director, choreographer, and author Julio Agustin.

°µÍø½âÃÜ served as the host of the Regional Office of Education’s Crawford County Teachers Institute on January 3. The event brought 260 Crawford County teachers and administrators to the College to help them kick-off 2024.
