OCC Theater Overcomes Challenges of Pandemic to Present Smokey Joes Caf矇
The Olney Central College Theater was just a week away from presenting Mamma Mia last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown not only its performances, but shows across the country.
I feel so sorry that our audience didnt get to see all the hard work the Mamma Mia cast put in, said OCC Theater Director Jon Wright. That will be the first production we do once everything returns to normal and we are able to do our shows with a normal size cast.
In the meantime, Wright is excited to bring Smokey Joes Caf矇 to the Ruth Henry Stage.

Ordell Hired to Lead LTC Soccer Programs
做厙賤躇 has hired Blake Ordell to be the head coach of the mens and womens soccer programs.
Ordell played professional soccer for nine years throughout the United States, Sweden, and Canada and coached collegiately for ten years. He previously served as an assistant mens soccer coach at Quincy University, head mens and womens soccer coach at Sheridan College, head mens soccer coach at Culver-Stockton College, and assistant mens and womens soccer coach at MacMurray College.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares individuals for high-skill, in-demand employment that furthers Illinois global competitiveness. Last year, about half of all Illinois community college graduates earned a CTE degree or certificate. CTE programs offer flexible scheduling, work-based learning, and stackable credentials that provide a pathway from education to employment not only for recent high school graduates, but also for returning adults, veterans, and workers wanting to update their skills.

Mid-semester Math Classes Start March 15
Did you drop a math class this semester or change your major and need to complete a math course?
Olney Central College is offering MTH 1103 Liberal Arts Math and MTH 1102 College Algebra as 8-week mid-semester courses.
Both classes will be offered in a hybrid format. The hybrid format means that most of the homework and the exams for the courses will be online, while instruction will take place face to face. Students should consult their advisors as they may need to take a placement exam.

Mount Carmel, Ill. The application period for Wabash Valley Colleges honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, is now open. Applications are available in the Student Services office and must be turned in by March 5, 2021.

Area Community Colleges Partner to Strengthen Manufacturing
Last October, Governor JB Pritzker announced his intention to construct two community college-based manufacturing training academies in southern Illinois. Were investing directly in communities and in companies with programs that will allow businesses to grow, retain and attract new talent for higher-paying jobs of the future, Pritzker said.
